Obviously the answer to this question depends on a number of things, but I can give you some real world examples, the job, its requirements, size, the factors that went into its pricing, and if you can match that job to your site and your needs, that should give you an idea of where your quote might end up.
150m long gravel driveway in poor condition. Required moderate grading before resurfacing with roadbase, then rolling. Three areas are in particularly poor condition. 60 cubic meters of gravel required.
Total cost: $9,500
280m long gravel driveway in very poor condition. Area is mudstone, with bedrock at the surface in areas. Main 100m section is very steep.
Drainage will be required: 100m gully drain along steep section, floodway style culvert with 100mm rock drainage area in two zones.
Local gravel requested to match prevailing designs in area.
Total cost: $21,000
Town driveway requiring resurfacing for commercial space. 90m, in moderate condition, but as commercial space it must be well surfaced and accessible for all vehicles, including foot traffic, aged persons and wheelchair users.
Total cost: $7500
300m driveway, constructed from nothing, 70% of the area well draining 5% sloped soil. The other 30% requiring substantial earthworks to remove soil and grade road, including installation of 25m side gully drains, culvert, large stone run-off area. Extra gravel required due to virgin soil in use for driveway surface.
Total cost: $24,000
25m of driveway resurfacing required, in a narrow driveway next to a house. In addition a new circular 25m turning drive to be constructed. Soil area for new drive is spongy and damp in late summer. Client advised to install drainage but declined. Much extra gravel needed for new driveway, in addition the area is the location of some utility services (water, sewage, electrical), and as such much care is required for these works.
New drive area also requires removal of existing soil, trees and garden, approx 6 cubic meters of green waste.
Total cost: $6,500.
As you can see the main factors are the length of the drive, how steep it is, the addition of drainage works, the need to do earthworks, and to some extent the difficulty of the work/access/care.
A 300m drive might be around $20,000
A 150m drive might be about $9-10,000
A 50m drive might be about $5-600
And the easier it is, with less drainage, big steep hills, wet areas on roads, the less it will be in that range. And if you do have issues, thats when these rough figures start to get rougher. A few bits and pieces no problem, a lot, then that 300m driveway with extensive drainage might be $30,000.
I hope that has helped, but obviously the best bet is to just give is a call and we can talk you through things, do a site visit and get you a more accurate quote to look at.
