What will I need?

Resurfacing, repairs, drainage. What do I need?

This is probably the most difficult part to answer without talking to you, and getting an idea of your particular driveway needs and situation. But if you have read the page covering 'what we do' you'll have a bit of an understanding of how it works, and I hope you can sot your place in there.

Here are some rough guides:

  • If your driveway is in a really bad state then it will need a repair.
  • If it gets water running over it, or large puddles covering it, it should get some drainage.
  • If it has drains but they don't seem to be working, they will also need repairing.
  • If your driveway has long steep sections that you notice has water running down it, it should have some form of drainage.
  • If every winter some of the driveway washes away from a small creek running down the middle of it, you need drainage.
  • If your driveway has potholes and areas of erosion, such as gullies, it will need to be graded before laying road-base.

But all that said the best thing is for us to look at it and give you our advice, as each job is different, some look bad and are easy, some even look easy and are occasionally bad.

Let me point out : Although I might say a site needs drainage doesn't mean you HAVE to get it. In some cases we will advise the client that they should get drainage, it is in their best interests, but they may decide not to. Perhaps their budget doesn't stretch that far this year, perhaps they are planning on selling in 6 months. In these cases we advise them that that is fine, but we cannot assure them that the works will stay in that state for any set period of time. They may last 5-10 years, they may have a patch wash away that winter in a big rain event. Its their choice.
